Narrative Poem
That Was It
By Ilah Dein
She was his sunshine;
He was her lullaby.
He lit up her world
as she painted his blank face.They love each other.
But that’s it.
That’s it.
That was it.He deserved her;
She deserved him.
She kept her feelings a secret and stayed silent.
He kept his feelings a secret and remained silent.She was impatient and needed to be assured;
He was caring in the most nonverbal way.
He wasn’t risking it, fearing time.
She wasn’t risking it: she’s distrustful.
They loved each other.
But that’s it.
That’s it.
That was it:She was his sunshine;
he was her lullaby -
But they met the right person
at the wrong time.
You were my four seasons
You were the answer to all my wonders about love
Us was like a present
Unexpected but beautiful
But darling, we are two parallel lines that will never cross
You and I are like water and oil that can’t mix
Maybe in another life
I will be yours
In the end, we can’t make it
